TOUR DESCRIPTION:

This overnight trip starts with a 1:00pm lunch at Sorya café, along with a trip & safety briefing, before driving 23 km to the kayak launch point.

From there, you will first paddle across the river towards the west bank of the Mekong, before turning downstream and continuing on through many sand islands, trees and bushes.

There will also be an opportunity to swim in the river, and to try Kratie’s famous traditional bamboo sticky rice snack, while on the way to the island campsite.

Your guide will talk about local life and the lifestyle of the dolphins, while enjoy the natural river environs, before a campfire dinner.
And when ready for bed, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the river.

The next morning’s paddle will take you through the flooded forest, on the way to see dolphins.

After spending some time in the dolphin area, there will be a short paddle to Kampi village, where our driver will pick you up and drive you back to Sorya café for breakfast.

This overnight camping trip offers a great opportunity that few travellers get to have, that is to not only see the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat at a quiet time of the day, but also to explore the Mekong River and spend a relaxing back to nature night camping on a sand island.
